Attacks by debit/credit card skimmers are a continuing threat

Too often there are cases where a person sees an unauthorized transaction on their bank or credit card statement without ever knowing how it happened. In many of these cases, it’s the result of falling victim to a skimmer. On gas pumps, skimmers can be as small as a thumb drive and can be hard to detect. Criminals can sometimes gain access to a gas pump key, which can be used at many pumps to install devices. In the past couple of years, skimming has advanced to include Bluetooth technology, which criminals use to keep from having to return to the gas pump to physically retrieve stolen data. Do you know what to look for when looking for such a device? Here are some examples of what credit card skimmers can look like:

Did you know that Wayne is the only manufacturer that offers a flush mount card reader and keypad? Skimmers like the first two examples are visible at a glance with this feature. There is also Smart access security available– mag door sensors that can be installed on both the electronic and hydraulic doors to stop anyone from having access to inside the dispensers. If you think you might have skimmers, or want more info on these deterrent options, give us a call. We are here to help.

USDA announced this week $100 million in funding for infrastructure through the Higher Blends Infrastructure Incentive Program (HBIIP). This program seeks to market higher blends of ethanol and biodiesel by sharing the costs to build and retrofit biofuel-related infrastructure such as pumps, dispensers and storage tanks required to compatibly distribute and store biofuels containing more than 10% ethanol (such as E15 or E85), or more than 5% biodiesel.
